6SU207 Conservation biology
The students should acquire an understanding of the central topics within conservation biology, with emphasis on extinction mechanisms of species and populations.
The course is an introduction to conservation biology as well as to the recent threats species and habitats are exposed to. There will be special emphasis on the two paradigms in conservation biology (small threatened populations and decreasing populations), and the methods to study and manage such populations. The lectures give a global perspective on conservation biology.
Taught in English. Lectures, seminars and possibility for written report.
Oral exam (50%) mappe (50%). Grading according to ECTS-system on scale A – E for passed, and F for failed.
