6SU189 Practice in wildlife research
The students should get an introduction to various methods of wildlife and forestry research.
The student will take part in fieldwork of wildlife and forestry research programs and will be introduced to database management, data analysis, literature search and similar. This can be in the form of radio-telemetry, GPS-technology, ground-tracking on snow, population monitoring, population estimates, and biodiversity assessment. The study will improve the students’ skills in Excel and ArcGIS, and introduce the student to the organisation of field work. The content will vary depending on ongoing projects.
The student will take part in various projects within wildlife and forestry research. For each project the student will be assigned a supervisor that follows the student from the planning, through the practice and to a final written report.
Written report graded as passed or failed.
