English Language and Literature - 30/60 ECTS
Why study English Language and Literature?
- English is the most widely-used language in the world.
- Competence in English is required in many study and job contexts today, both in Norway and internationally.
- We offer a friendly teaching environment with highly qualified teachers, among whom several are native speakers of English.
What kind of expertise will I gain?
- When taken separately, a 30 or 60 ECTS study in English Language and Literature gives you a broad introduction to English studies, with a choice of modules focussing on the sound system, English grammar and writing, literature in English, and British and American culture and civilization.
- The one-year programme (60 ECTS) gives formal teaching qualifications for Norwegian primary and secondary schools
- when taken as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree in combination with PPU (Practical Pedagogical Education, a post-graduate qualification in education), or
- when taken as part of a teacher education programme.
- The one-year programme is a foundation for further English study programmes, such as the advanced 30 ECTS programme in English.
- When combined with a minimum of 20 ECTS of advanced level study, the programme can also give admission to Master’s programmes with a specialization in English.
