What kind of expertise will I gain?
The program serves to document your capacity to work in English and to communicate cross culturally. The program can be an integrated part of BA programs both in Norway and abroad. It is also recognized as part of Social Science Studies in the Teacher Training Education in Norway and several students have made this part of their dual language teacher training or multicultural teacher training.
About the programme
Study plan 2011 (under revision for the fall semester 2012)
The program is part of a trilateral agreement between Namibia University, Windhoek, Pacific Lutheran University, Washington State, US, and Hedmark University College and was established in 2002. The program focus on contemporary challenges of society through four themes organized in three modules each comprising 10 ECTS. Working methods are lectures, seminars, excursions and workshops. Students can choose between field studies or field research in the third module.
Students will interact with representatives from political life, research institutions and NGOs. A high student input is required.
Admission requirements
All applicants must meet the general entrance requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification in Norway. International students must document a minimum of two years of higher education before undertaking the study program.
Non-native English speakers must document formal English competence in one of the following ways:
- TOEFL with a minimum score of 500 (written) 170 (computer based) 60 (internet based); or
- IELTS with a minimum score of 5.0; or
- Relevant English language modules at university level (both oral and written)
