The library at Hedmark University College (HUC) is comprised of branch libraries at the five study locations.

Goals of the library
Main goal:
The library shall be a centre of information and knowledge in the college’s areas of study, and an active and integrated academic resource for the entire college.
Other goals:
User in focus
The library shall be user-oriented and stimulate user-participation.
The library as a meeting place and a work place
The library shall assist in increasing the quality of education and the information literacy of students, researchers and teaching staff by offering:
- well-equipped computer and study facilities close to the information sources
- assistance, guidance and reference services at a high level by qualified staff
- instruction in searching and handling of information
Reaching out to the users
The library shall make information resources available for users where the users are:
- quality-controlled information resources (journals and reference works in full text, bibliographic databases, etc.)
- the library catalogue, acquisition of literature
- communication with the library
- search guidance
- services for off-campus students
Research and Development (R&D)
The library shall support R&D at the school by:
- performing reference services
- publishing the school’s R&D Reports, printed and electronic
- registering, documenting and presenting the production of R&D
The library in the region
The library shall be a centre for information and knowledge for the local region in the school’s area of study.
