Research interests: I’m a PhD student here at Evenstad working on indirect effects of large herbivores. I’m focusing on how large herbivores in two study systems (the boreal forest in Scandinavia and coastal heath in Australia) affect small mammals and birds through their effects on vegetation. I’m addressing three related research questions: First, how varying moose densities and browsing pressure affect the food preference of voles. Second, how varying moose densities and moose feeding stations affect passerine bird and small mammal species composition and reproductive performance. Finally, how native wallabies and introduced deer affect the small mammal communities in a coastal heath. I’m also interested in ecotoxicology and human – large carnivore conflicts. |
